R A Smart operates one of the largest digital textile printing facilities in the UK. Established 1972 and located in Macclesfield, the traditional UK home of silk, the company is successfully reversing the domestic manufacturing decline through its printing, weaving and textile manufacturing services.
Much of R A Smart’s fabric production is converted into finished products such as gents and ladies neckwear and household textiles. The business continues to hand screen print and jacquard weave alongside its digital capabilities, working with the full scope of fabrics from silk and cashmere, to cotton, linen and polyester.
R A Smart also offers complete printing solutions through the sale of printing equipment and associated materials.
COVID-19
Faced by challenges to its manufacturing base and the health considerations brought about by
Covid-19, R A Smart has harnessed its unique skillset and business capabilities and developed a new product that carries the important ‘Made in UK’ label: Printed Face Masks.
Produced in numerous designs and colourways, using two layers of 100% pure cotton and an environmentally safe water repellent finish, R A Smart now successfully markets the face masks directly to the public through its online store.
